Why Don't I Hear God Speak?

In our busy modern lives, it can often feel like God is silent. We don't hear His voice speaking directly to us like Moses did in Exodus 3 when God spoke to him through the burning bush. But God often speaks in quieter, subtler ways if we make time to listen. 

God may speak through Bible verses that suddenly come to mind, or wise counsel from a friend, or even that inner nudge to reach out to someone in need. He may speak in moments of awe at creation, or a sense of peace in turmoil. If we aren't hearing God's voice clearly, perhaps our lives are too noisy. Let's find time for solitude, prayer, and reflection on scripture. As we draw near to God, He will draw near to us. Though dramatic revelations like Moses' burning bush are rare, God still desires to guide us if we will but listen. Be still today, and hear the gentle whisper of the One who loves you.
